The CMF provides funding to homegrown contemporary music artists and allows artists to capitalise on opportunities.
The scheme aims to ensure a diverse representation of musicians and music professionals from Aboriginal, regional, cultural and gender diverse backgrounds.

Last financial year (2020-21), the CMF provided funding to 42 applicants of almost $590,000 across both categories. Funding went towards the recording of music, business development, promotion, professional development and mentoring.
The CMF 15k-plus category is currently open, with applications closing on 17 February 2022. Applications to the U-15k category (grants up to $15,000) are open year-round.
