The WA Government contributed $2.8 million towards the upgrades which will enhance the club's ability to respond to emergencies with improved services and water safety operations.
The facility will also serve as a hub for activities for the Great Southern community with more welcoming facilities including spaces for training, education, and events.
The project cost is $3.3 million, jointly funded by $2.1 million from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), $704,000 from Lotterywest, $350,000 from the City of Albany and $200,000 from the Albany Surf Life Saving Club.
The Albany Surf Life Saving Club has been providing a highly valued community service for Albany and the Great Southern since 1917 and the redevelopment will help to meet growing community demand at Middleton Beach.
